We implement and assess programs, and advise the government, private institutions and civil society organizations. This pillar offers access to and in-depth study of actual cases of programmatic interventions. In 2013, Duran assessed the current and post 2014 threats and safety mechanisms affecting journalists and media workers in Afghanistan. The purpose of the assessment was to inform the future programmatic orientation of major international organizations and their partners in the area. 2014 witnessed Duran’s expansion to the northern provinces of Afghanistan through the evaluation of GIZ’ Internally Displaced Persons Project and Deutsche Welle Academy’s media and communication capacity building program for media organizations and communication departments of several major public institutions of higher education.
